BEFORE YOU GO · CANTON FAIR 2026
A practical pre-trip checklist for contractors, developers, distributors and procurement teams sourcing doors, windows and building materials in China.
| EVENT 140th Canton Fair | PHASE 2 October 23–27, 2026 | RELEVANT CATEGORY Building & Furniture |
PREPARATION MATTERS
Canton Fair gives international buyers access to a large number of suppliers and product categories within a limited period of time. For professional building material buyers, however, simply collecting catalogues and quotations may not be enough.
When sourcing customized products such as aluminum windows and doors, entrance doors, interior doors, cabinets or railings, bringing clear project information can make supplier conversations much more focused.
QUICK CHECKLIST
| ✓ Define the products you need | ✓ Prepare drawings and dimensions |
| ✓ Confirm estimated quantities | ✓ List required specifications |
| ✓ Confirm destination market | ✓ Prepare supplier questions |
| 01 | DEFINE YOUR GOAL Know What You Are Looking ForLarge exhibitions can quickly become overwhelming. Before your trip, separate your sourcing requirements into priority categories and identify which products require immediate supplier discussions. |
| Product Category | Prepare Before Meeting Suppliers |
|---|---|
| Aluminum Windows | Opening type, size, glass and performance requirements |
| Sliding / Folding Doors | Opening dimensions, panel configuration and glass |
| Entrance Doors | Dimensions, finish, lock and opening requirements |
| Interior Doors | Quantity, dimensions, style and finish |
| Cabinets & Wardrobes | Layout, dimensions, materials and finish preferences |
| 02 | BRING THE PROJECT Prepare the Documents Suppliers Actually NeedIf you are sourcing for an active residential, commercial or development project, bringing the right documents can move the conversation from general product introductions to specific project discussions.

PREPARE BEFORE YOU MEET
DRAWINGS · SPECIFICATIONS · MATERIALS · PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
| 03 | KNOW YOUR MARKET Clarify Project and Destination RequirementsProduct requirements can vary by destination market, climate, building type and project specification. Before meeting suppliers, identify any performance, glazing, safety or certification requirements that may apply to your project. Instead of asking only “Do you have certification?”, provide the destination country and project requirements so the supplier can confirm whether the relevant product configuration can meet the required standard. |
| 04 | ASK BETTER QUESTIONS Prepare Questions Before Meeting SuppliersExhibition time is limited. Preparing your questions in advance helps you quickly identify which suppliers deserve further discussion.
|
| 05 | COMPARE CORRECTLY Do Not Compare Price AloneWhen two suppliers quote different prices, first confirm whether they are quoting the same product configuration. Profiles, glass, hardware, finishes, sealing and packaging can all affect the final specification.
|
AFTER EACH MEETING
After speaking with a supplier, record the key information immediately. This makes it easier to identify which companies should move to the next stage after the exhibition.
| 01 Product Fit | 02 Specification | 03 Customization | 04 Communication | 05 Next Step |
ONE FINAL TIP
The goal of a sourcing exhibition is not simply to collect more supplier contacts. For project buyers, the real value comes from identifying suppliers that understand your specifications, market requirements and customization needs well enough to continue a serious project discussion after the exhibition.
